Charmed Forever: Reuniting with Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan at Comic Con Holland

We are beyond excited to announce our upcoming adventure to Comic Con Holland on October 12 and 13 at Expo: Greater Amsterdam in Vijfhuizen, Netherlands! This year, we will have the incredible opportunity to meet Charmed actresses Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan once again. Our first encounter with these amazing ladies was back in 2022 at German Comic Con Dortmund: Winter Edition, where we traveled from the Netherlands to Germany.

One of the highlights of that unforgettable weekend was December 3, which also happened to be Holly's birthday. Surrounded by fellow fans, we sang "Happy Birthday" to her at her signing booth, creating a cherished memory that we hold dear. To Holly's left was Rose McGowan, and on her right was the legendary Barbara Eden, who I (Ranbert) also had the pleasure of meeting. The joy of celebrating Holly's birthday with both her and Rose solidified our everlasting love for Charmed. With celebrating I mean for just the fact that we got to sing for Holly and congratulate her on her special day. As a token of our appreciation, we gifted them both a Christmas card, and Rose was particularly touched by Daryene's empowering words.

On that day, we secured Holly's autograph on a photo we brought from home, and Rose graciously signed a photo of her as well.

Daryene captured special moments in photos with both of them, turning those memories into treasures we will cherish forever.


Now, Holly Marie Combs and Rose McGowan are coming to the Netherlands, and the excitement is palpable! This will be our first time meeting them here in the Netherlands but our second time meeting them in Europe. Both Holly and Rose know we will be there to meet them once again, a second comic con, but considering the days we have seen and meet them, these 2 days of Comic Con Holland will mark our 3rd and 4th times seeing and meeting them as we will be there on both days just like at German Comic Con in 2022.

So, how was our anticipation? Well, as we eagerly anticipated the guest announcements for Comic Con Holland, our excitement grew when Holly was confirmed as a special guest. They first announced on May 30 that they will announce their first special guest on May 31st. Their first special guest they announced was James Marsters from Buffy, Angel, Smallville and Dragonball Evolution. We fans were hoping that Holly was going to be announced and hoping that Holly will be accompanied by Rose McGowan just like in Germany.

The magic itself first started on June 11 when Comic Con Holland shared an image announcing that a second special guest would be revealed on June 12 at 4:00 PM. We joined fellow fans in the comments, expressing our hopes that Holly would be announced, especially since she was originally scheduled to appear the previous year but had to cancel due to illness—a situation we completely understood. Our joy was palpable when Holly was officially announced as the second special guest! We, as Comic Con Wanderers, eagerly reposted the announcement to spread the fantastic news that Holly was coming to the Netherlands.

Then, on September 5, Comic Con Holland teased that another special guest would be announced the following day at 4:00 PM. We and other fans filled the comments with hopes that the guest would be none other than Rose McGowan, our beloved Paige Matthews from Charmed.

On September 6, Comic Con Holland dropped a hint featuring the iconic Book of Shadows, raising our excitement that another star from Charmed would be joining the lineup! At 4:00 PM, the official announcement confirmed our hopes—Rose McGowan was indeed the special guest!


In addition to our personal excitement, we, along with another fellow Charmed fan, Lisa, are organizing a special tribute to Shannen Doherty, honoring her life and legacy. Shannen Doherty passed away on July 13 of this year, and her loss deeply affected not only her family and friends but also fans around the globe. Holly and Rose have been informed about the tribute we are holding at Comic Con Holland, which we hope will be a heartfelt remembrance of her impact on all of us.

We invite all fellow fans to join us in this tribute, as we come together to celebrate the remarkable life of Shannen. Let’s honor her spirit and the joy she brought into our lives through her work, activism, and kindness. The tribute will take place on both days of Comic Con Holland, October 12 and 13, and we would love to see you there as we share our memories and pay homage to an incredible woman who will always be in our hearts.

Shannen was a remarkable actress, known for her roles in Charmed and Beverly Hills, 90210, and she was beloved by many for her activism and fierce spirit in her battle against cancer. She had a profound love for animals, and her warmth resonated with fans worldwide. Notably, Shannen reunited with her Charmed co-stars Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, and Drew Fuller on the House of Halliwell: A Charmed Rewatch Podcast. Although she sadly passed away before the first episode featuring her aired, we are grateful that several episodes were recorded, showcasing the deep bond they shared.

After Shannen’s passing, Rose McGowan stepped in to host an episode of Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty—a podcast originally meant to be hosted by Shannen herself, with Rose as her special guest. Rose did an incredible job, and fans worldwide praised her for how she honored Shannen’s spirit. It was a poignant and cherished episode, especially for Charmed fans who had long hoped to see Prue and Paige interact, even if just in this way, since they never appeared together on screen. Interestingly, they did share a scene in the 1997 film Nowhere, before Charmed. In the wake of Shannen's passing, fans like us have remembered her in various ways, sharing photos and clips online. Among these were moments from Nowhere, highlighting Shannen and Rose together, igniting our imaginations about what could have been if Prue and Paige had met on-screen, perhaps in a reboot or movie with the original cast.

As we prepare for these upcoming days at Comic Con Holland, we feel a mix of excitement and reverence. We are certain that October 12 and 13 will be filled with Charmed magic, and we hope that our tribute to Shannen Doherty will be as beautiful and heartfelt as she deserves. While Daryene and I never had the chance to meet Shannen in person, we’re grateful that she acknowledged our existence online.

Shannen Doherty engaged with our Instagram account, Comic Con Wanderers, on two unforgettable occasions. Earlier this year, she shared one of our posts announcing the schedule for the Charmed panel at Lexington Toy & Comic Convention. She also liked a repost of a photo I shared of her and Rose McGowan taken at Comicpalooza in June. These moments mean the world to us, and they will remain cherished forever.

We’re looking forward to meeting fellow fans and celebrating Shannen’s life with them. The tribute will take place on both days, and we’re honored that Holly Marie Combs herself shared our post about it, ensuring that fans will know and be able to participate.

As for Holly and Rose, we can't wait to see them again and make even more magical memories. These two days will surely be Charmed—full of love, nostalgia, and a celebration of everything that these incredible women have brought into our lives.

But don't forget. Attending a comic con can be an exhilarating experience, but being prepared can make it even more enjoyable. First, plan your schedule in advance; check the event's website for panels, signings, and special guests you don't want to miss. Arrive early to beat the crowds and secure good spots for popular panels. Don’t forget to bring cash for autographs and merchandise, as not all vendors accept cards. Wear comfortable shoes, as you’ll be on your feet for long periods. It's also wise to pack snacks and a refillable water bottle to stay energized and hydrated throughout the day. Make sure to bring a power bank and charging cables to keep your devices charged, especially since you'll be taking lots of photos and videos. Check that your phone and camera have enough memory space before you go, so you can capture all the amazing moments without worrying about running out of storage. Lastly, be sure to engage with fellow fans and take plenty of photos to capture the magic of the event. Enjoy every moment, and let the excitement of comic con inspire your inner fandom!
