An Unforgettable Experience Meeting Bex Mader at Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands

For us, every convention is a new adventure, filled with excitement, nostalgia, and the thrill of meeting actors who have brought beloved characters to life. From exploring the event floor to attending panels and collecting treasured autographs, these experiences become memories we cherish forever. One such unforgettable experience was meeting Rebecca Mader at Comic, Film & Manga Fest Rotterdam in March 2024. As longtime fans of Once Upon a Time and her incredible portrayal of Zelena, the Wicked Witch, this moment was a dream come true. Almost a year later, we still look back on this special weekend with so much joy, and today, we want to share our full story with you!
It's hard to believe that it's almost a year since we had one of the most incredible experiences of our lives—meeting the amazing Rebecca Mader at Comic, Film & Manga Fest Rotterdam in March 2024! As longtime fans, this was a dream come true, and now, looking back, we want to share every unforgettable moment with you.
From attending her panels to getting our photos taken with her and having our Zelena Mills the Wicked Witch Funko Pop! personally signed, every second spent with Bex was pure magic. We made this trip to **Rotterdam Ahoy specifically for her, and it was more than worth it. Now, almost one year later, we’re reminiscing on the memories that still bring a huge smile to our faces.
Here’s our story of meeting Bex Mader—a truly kind, talented, and inspiring person who made our fan experience beyond special.
The moment we arrived at Comic, Film & Manga Fest Rotterdam, our first mission was to find Rebecca Mader’s signing booth. Though she wasn’t there yet when I snapped the photo below, the atmosphere was already electric with excitement. We could hardly contain our enthusiasm—finally, we would meet the incredible actress who brought Zelena Mills to life. The anticipation of sharing our admiration and perhaps hearing some behind-the-scenes stories from Once Upon a Time and her other projects made every second feel like a countdown.
Our adventure truly began when we spotted Rebecca at her signing table. Without hesitation, we made our way over, introducing ourselves before the official welcome and stage program of CFMF Rotterdam. We shared our excitement about meeting her, the preparations we made for this special day, and how much it meant to us. When we told her we were originally from Aruba but now living in the Netherlands, she was genuinely interested. Shortly after, it was time for the morning’s official introduction program—the perfect way to kick off an unforgettable day at CFMF Rotterdam.
Later in the morning it was Rebecca Mader’s panel on Day 1, March 23. This session was absolutely incredible—Bex shared fascinating insights into her career, her experiences in the industry, and personal stories that made us admire her even more. Seeing her speak with so much passion and humor was inspiring, and it deepened our appreciation not just for her work, but for the person she is. We also attended Day 2 and were there at her panel. These were 2 special days we will never forget. 💚💚💚
Then came one of the most exciting moments—getting our photos taken with her! Standing next to Bex, feeling that rush of excitement, and capturing that special moment was surreal. These photos are now some of our most cherished keepsakes, bringing back the pure joy we felt that day. We keep these photos together with photos we have taken with our other favorite TV & Movie stars.
The Ultimate Keepsake: Our Signed Zelena Mills Funko Pop!
One of the highlights of the event was getting our Zelena Mills Funko Pop! signed by Rebecca Mader. As avid collectors of autographed memorabilia, this was a moment we had been eagerly anticipating. In the weeks leading up to the convention, we had searched high and low for the Funko Pop! of Zelena and were thrilled when we found one just in time for the event.
When the moment arrived, and we stood before Rebecca at her signing booth, she greeted us with the warmest smile. She took the time to chat with us, making us feel truly special. Seeing her sign our Funko Pop! with her signature and the added touch of "Zelena" and a 💚 made it all the more magical. This was more than just an autograph—it was a personal connection to a character and actress we deeply admire. To this day, I treasure this moment and we got it on video too!
A Moment to Remember
Rebecca’s kindness and enthusiasm toward her fans made our experience unforgettable. She radiated warmth and positivity, making each interaction personal and meaningful. Even though she had a busy schedule, she took the time to make every fan feel valued, and that meant the world to us. 💚💚💚
Looking back, we still feel incredibly grateful for those moments with Bex Mader at Comic, Film & Manga Fest Rotterdam. Her energy, her kindness, and the memories she gave us will always hold a special place in our hearts. One other special moments we treasure is when this photo was taken: after her panel when was going backstage. 💚
