Scalpers Unleashed: Disrupting the Pokémon x Van Gogh Museum Collaboration!
When Passion Turned Chaos, Leaving True Fans Disappointed

Isn't this Pikachu TCG awesome?
The collaboration, which began today, September 28, was meant to encourage children and young people to explore the beautiful world of Van Gogh's art. The concept was brilliant - a quest that should take participants through Van Gogh's paintings, offering a chance to learn about the stories behind them (such as his passion for Japanese art) while collecting clues and completing a quiz. As a reward, participants could obtain a special trading card: Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat, a delightful fusion of Pokémon and Van Gogh's iconic "Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat."

However, what was supposed to be a fun and educational experience as an informative art exhibit quickly devolved into chaos as scalpers swarmed the museum, driven by the desire to acquire this exclusive card. Videos began to circulate online, showing the museum filled with scalpers who had no interest in the art but were solely focused on profiting from the collaboration.

The situation grew so dire that the Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat card, originally intended to be a prize for those genuinely engaging with the art, began appearing on eBay listings, with prices ranging from $100 to an astonishing $100,000 and more!!! This kind of price gouging is not only unfair but completely against the spirit of what this collaboration aimed to achieve.

It's disheartening to see how these scalpers disrupted what was meant to be a delightful journey for children and families. The cards were labeled as "subject to availability," leaving a glimmer of hope that those who truly appreciated the art could enjoy the exhibit once scalpers dispersed. However, this chaos shouldn't have been allowed to occur in the first place.

The collaboration is scheduled to run until January 7, 2024, and it's my sincere hope that measures can be taken to ensure that true Pokémon fans, TCG enthusiasts, collectors, and art lovers can still have a meaningful experience without the interference of scalpers. Let's not allow greed to overshadow the beauty of art and the magic of Pokémon.

As someone deeply saddened and disappointed by what transpired, I urge us all to remember the values that make the Pokémon community special: camaraderie, passion, and a genuine love for the world of Pokémon and art. Together, we can ensure that such collaborations continue to inspire and educate, free from the disruptive influence of scalpers!
